My Precious Memory, My Presentation

We, the extension students, had a big project this session. It was presentation about Japanese culture. First I thought it would be too difficult for me to present topic in English. During this session we spent a lot of time for preparing this presentation. We researched about each our topic. At that time it was hard to decide subtopics. My topic focused on cultural meanings of Japanese traditional houses. There are many meanings in Japanese traditional houses. These were interesting to me. Also I had a problem explaining to American. It was difficult to explain. However I talked with some people and gained advice from them, such as teachers and RAs. As a result, we made our PowerPoint presentation. Before the presentation day, I was so nervous so I called my mother, then she said to me" You are my daughter, you can do it."Some people may think that this has no meaning, but these words gave me confidence. Whenever I was nervous, she gave me confidence.

On that day of presentation, I think we gave a good presentation. We were not upset. During this, there was a skit which was a kind of comedy. The adience laughed when they saw our skit. It was a very funny skit. Also, during my part, many people nodded when I explained about traditional houses. Many people saw Japanese traditional houses for the first time and they probably thought these were so cool. I found that Japanese houses were interesting to American people. After the presentation, some people asked questions which were interesting for us. American people sometimes surprised us, but it was good for us because we could found what was interesting for American people.

After our presentation, I talked with a man who goes to Whitworth University. I met him on Monday and I told him about our presentations so he was interested in these and came. It was amazing to us that many people were interested in Japanese culture. I was impressed. Also my host family came and he told me that we did so good job. I was happy because American people learned about Japan from our presentations. In addition, my friends watch us tenderly. It made me happy. I would like to thank everyone who came to my presentation. On Thursday, all presentations were finished. Some students cried because of mixed feelings. We were happy and sad to finish it. During this session, we did many things to prepare for presentation. We got a sense of achievement, but I will leave two weeks from now. After presentation, we appreciated our teacher's supporting. I sure that we could have good presentation because of our teachers.

We have done a biggest event in this session. First I thought it was impossible to present Japanese culture in English. However we could do it. It became our confident. Since I experienced this, I might grow up as a person. I never forget these presentation.
