Extension students went on a trip to Portland last weekend. We visited a lot of places. For example, we visited
CWU to meet students who are studying Japanese. I talked with 2 students with my presentation members. Their Japanese is not good, but they are really interested in Japan. One of them is Taiwanese. He came to America alone to study American education when he was 15 years old.We taught to them about
presentation topic. Our topic is "Japanese houses". It was a good
opportunity to
practice our presentation. Their opinion was interesting to me because they said, "Japanese traditional houses are new, and Japanese modern houses are old for us". It means modern houses are similar to western houses, but they have never seen to traditional houses, so they felt traditional houses are new for them. I couldn't notice this idea because I'm a Japanese! To visit
CWU was good experience for me.

On our trip, we also visited
Multnomah Falls. It is a second highest falls in America. All of the extension students hiked up to the top of the falls. It took about 40 minutes, so it is hard for me to hike to the top. However, the sight from the top was so beautiful.
Portland is similar to Japan more than Spokane. For example, climate is humid and there aren't so many pine tree.
I enjoyed this trip, and of cause I bought a lot of things because Portland has no sales tax!!
