It was a Serious Competition for Us!

Halloween is fantastic! I experienced genuine Halloween for the first time, because we don't celebrate it in Japan as much as in America. My group members were really looking forward to Halloween day and we had decided that we would be the Adams Family a month before the day. Our intention was to win the prize for our costumes.

On Halloween day, the party started at 7:00 pm. So we started preparing at 5:00 pm. We all wore a black costume and a cloak that we bought before, and painted our face white including our neck and ears! Asami was the father. She wore her hair combed straight back and tied. Also she had a mustache and sideburns and heavy eyebrows on her face. Aiko was the mother. She had very thin eyebrows and wore very long false eyelashes. She became a real beauty even though her face was snow-white. Megumi was the uncle. Actually the uncle is bald, but we couldn't find a bald wig at the store. So she wore a big Afro wig. It suited her nicely. Yasuko was the daughter. At first she planed to put her hair into braids, but she really wore a red bob wig just because it was funnier. Her characteristics were no eyebrows and no makeup. Which was so funny! Kyoko was the son. She stuffed up her stomach with a lot of newspaper to make her look fat. Her characteristics included heavy drooping eyebrows. So she looked like she was always in trouble. Mami was Frankenstein, our servant. She was particular about her makeup and she became really like Frankenstein! We were surprised that she didn't need a Frankenstein mask! And I was the baby, because I'm the shortest in our group. I wore short eyebrows and had a mustache, and I held a pacifier all the time. We couldn't stop laughing when we saw everyone's face! We thought we were perfect and we could be champions. We decided not to laugh to preserve our calmness just like the Adams Family.

At the party hall..., there were many funny princesses, Japanese lords, etc with white face like us! We were shocked because we had thought that we would be the funniest. The white face girls were too funny! We couldn't help laughing, but we withheld our laughter because of our rule. Everyone danced with the music. I really wanted to join them but we didn't dance with them to obey our rule. Other girls laughed at us and we were took a lot of pictures like famous people. So we were still thinking that we could be a champion group. BUT we couldn't. The Sailor Moon team became the champion. Actually, we were beaten by only 1 vote! We were very shocked again and depressed. But we were satisfied with ourselves because everyone including us liked our Adams Family costumes.

The day was so much fun and interesting! We really enjoyed ourselves. I think I will not experience such a wonderful Halloween any more, and I will not dress up myself any more on Halloween day because we don't have any opportunity to do that in Japan. So this Halloween is my special memory.

HIdemi,

Nice photos with your article! I especially like the pumpkin over your head. It shows how large it really is.
