Before I came here, I had a lot of things that I was looking forward to because there are many events for us from September to December. For example, we have Halloween, Southwest tour, host family weekend and Thanksgiving. In Japan, actually there are no events during this time, so I am glad to be here! In additiont to these events, there are many other interesting things. Last weekend, I went Green Bluff to pick apples. I have never been to orchards before, so I was very happy when I learned that I could go to orchard. It was a chilly day, but my group members and I were very excited, so we didn't care about the weather. The place where we arrived first was not Green Bluff. However, there were some boothes and a big maze. It was a cornfield made into a maze. Of course, I tried it with my friends but the cornfield made us confused, so we got lost our way many times. That's why, it took about an hour to reach the end the of the maze. On our way to the goal, the gorilla suddenly appeared, so I was very surprised and step back. But of course, it was not a real gorilla:) The person dressed up gorilla. However, I enjoyed this experience very much. If I have a chance, I want to try it again.
After the maze, we went to Green Bluff. There were many children there. They were lively and there were a lot of laughter. It was a peaceful place. I rode on a vehicle to go to get to the place that we pick apples. The driving seemed a little dangerous, and it shook from side to side. Then we finally arrived and noticed that there were many kinds of apples, and we picked a lot of apples to make some apple pies. I ate some apples while picking them. I like the sweet one, but the sour one was also good. Finally, we picked about sixty apples! After that, I ate hotdog and a caramel apple. They were very yummy, but caramel hardened so quickly, so it was difficult to eat. Also, we saw a big white dog. He was so cute and friendly, so I petted him a lot. Whenever we ate something, he approached us and his mouth watered. It was so cute! Anyway, I had a very good time.Next day in my dorimitory, we made five apple pies and one pumpkin pie with my group members, my RA's mother and her friend from Germany. I have never made pie, so it was a very good oppotunity. I am not good at cooking, so I am ashamed to say that peeling apples was difficult for me, but I've never gave up, and finally I COULD do it! I was delighted and my friends said to me, 'Good job!' Making pie was easier than I thought. When the pies were baked, I couldn't wait them to finish, so I opened the oven many times to check them. When I opened the oven, smoke came out, so the alarm rang! We were upset, but it was all right:) Eating apple pie with vanilla ice cream was mouth watering! It was a very good combination. Of course, we couldn't eat all of the pie. I was full after eating, so I couldn't eat Common's food. Therefore, we gave some apple pies to B-side in our dormitory, advisers, drivers, Peter and Mr.K. When we delivered them, they looked happy, so I was also happy.
Last weekend, I did a lot of things such as trying the maze, picking some apples, making some apple pie and a pumpkin pie. Thanks to all of them, I could make wonderful experience! Whenever I have a chance to go somewhere or take part in some activities, I want to do as much as possible! All of them will be fabulous memories for me.
