When we went on the Portland trip, I were able to watch an NBA basketball game. When I compared this game with games in Japan, I thought they were quite different. The game in America was really exciting, and also surprising: I love baseball and I often go to the Koushien Stadium to support the baseball team, Hanshin Tigers, in Japan. There were several differences that I noticed. First, American people don't use musical instruments to support their team. In Japan, cheerleaders clubs play musical instruments like drums, and trumpets. They also shout their cheers through megaphones. When they do that, the fans sing the team songs. However, American supporters were very quiet because they concentrated on watching the basketball game. Second, Japanese people boo not only the opposing team but also their own team when they make mistakes. American people don't do that. In Japan, the Fans are little rude, especially Hanshin Tigers fans. I don't like it. I think American people really like basketball and respect the players. Finally, the sponsors in America gave surprise presents for some fans such as tickets, meals, or electrical appliances for free. I like the presents because it makes me happy to watch the game. Additionally, in America I could see cool dances and cheers during the time-out. It was very exciting. We can't see these dances during the games in Japan. I enjoyed the basketball game and even the time-out. I had a great time at the basketball game and I noticed that the way people watch sports is different in American and in Japan. Now, I really want to watch baseball again in Japan. I think American people love basketball as much as I love baseball.
