My Unforgettable Trip to the Southwest

I couldn't believe that I saw in the southwest!! Everything was surprising, fabulous and different from anything that I'd seen. We visited many places like Taos Pueblo, old churches or museums and I enjoyed seeing and walking around that. I especially loved to see the pottery in the museum, because there were many kinds of potteries that have beautiful paintings. I'm very interested in pottery, so I was happy to see and sketch them. some pottery had a painting of a bird, and the another one had a painting of people. I could also see the pottery that had beautiful patterns on it. I didn't know what it meant, but I could imagine the life of the ancient people from these potteries because the potteries were related to their lives. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any pottery because it was expensive, and also it's too fragile to carry, but I could see many of them and these potteries were worth to see!!

The best place that I went was of course the Grand canyon!!! I loved the scenery because that was absolutely enormous and I'd never seen such a beautiful thing. When I saw the landscape, I thought about many things. I was thinking about my family, my friends and my life. I couldn't stop crying. It's not exaggerated, but I was just moved to see the beautiful scenery and appreciate that I was there. I wanted my family and friends to go there together. I saw the sunset and the sunrise, and both were really breathtaking!! I tried to remember the view in my eyes. I also could see many stars in the night sky!! I love to see stars, but I had never seen a shooting star. Finally, I could see four shooting stars there!! It was amazing to see that, because the star was running so fast! I was impressed to see them because it was one of my dreams. I think this trip changed my life indeed because I saw lots of beautiful things that I'd never seen, and I felt something strong that I'd never felt. I will never forget this experience, and this will be my best memory.

Chiaki,

In ten or fifteen years, you might look at the photos you took at the Grand Canyon and think back to that wonderful time. Your clear and honest writing makes even those of us who were not there, feel your emotion.

Great!

Thank you! I love to write because I can tell my feelings easier and I can keep my memories forever. I hope my writing will remind me of the special experience in the SW.
