Last semester, we had a tutorial time from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Tuesday. We played American games, read books and went outside to play. I thought they was so fun and good for improving my English skill. But in fact, RAs had to plan for that, though they were also students and had lots of homework themselves. It looked hard for them. Then, starting from this semester, the club activities began! So, tutorials are held only on Monday and Tuesday and the clubs are held once a week. We could choose one club out of many. I am interested in Theater, Dance and Spanish club, but I heard I could not only learn Spanish but also make and eat Spanish food, so finally I chose Spanish at last! Then, I had to study three languages English, French, and Spanish(because I have French class, too) here and I felt it was a little hard I was looking forward to the club.
The first day of the club on Sept. 12. Kyoko and Mami are also in the Club with me. We studied usuful Spanish words and the pronounciation was a little funny, so we enjoyed practising. The second day was Sept,19. We made Spanish food! The club teacher (and also my RA) Lindsey brought other students to our dorm and taught us how to make the food. She had been in Spain to study Spanish for several months, so she knew about Spanish food. We made salad, a kind of tacos and kind of pancake. The tacos ere interesting because they were just two tortillas with cheese between them. Of course, they were heated by the microwave. They were so simple but very good! But some students didn't like them... The salad seasoned with olive oil and white wine and the pancake made with lots of eggs and potatos were also very delicious! We ate almost everything, though we had eaten dinner at Commons just before. We were all so full but we were happy:) Then, Lindsey gave us some Mexican hot chocolate. It had a cinnamon flavor. I like it very much!
It was my first time to eat Spanish food. I really like everything and felt that I could touch Spanish culture. Seeing the cooking many vegetables like tomatos, potatos, and green peppers were used. Lindsey said people could get lots of fresh vegetables and always use them for cooking. That's interesting for me! I thought I wanted to go to Spain someday! And I want to study Spanish language more. Anyway, I really enjoyed the club very much. I'm looking forward to next Spanish club meeting!
